🎶 The origins of groove (1968–1970)

Formed in late 1968, the BB SOUL band was born in Meaux, driven by a shared passion among young musicians for African American music: rhythm & blues, soul, and funk. The band quickly made a name for itself on the local scene, particularly at Club 81, an iconic venue in the region, where it often shared the bill with Wings of Future, the band led by talented guitarist Mauro Serri.

Every weekend, on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, BB SOUL played to an ever-growing audience, to the point of selling out every show. The band's energy, the quality of their covers, and the chemistry between the musicians won over live music fans.

Their reputation grew rapidly, attracting the attention of two well-known impresarios on the Paris scene, Roger Dias and Robert Izmir, who took them under their wing. Thanks to them, BB SOUL performed in prestigious venues, both in Paris and in the provinces, and remained at the top of the bill for several weeks at the Bus Palladium, the legendary temple of rock and soul of the time.

But life went on: military service, studies, and various personal choices gradually led the members to take different paths. The group eventually broke up, leaving behind vibrant memories and a beautiful mark on the local music scene.

🔄 The return of Soul (after more than 40 years)

Forty years later, the magic of the internet worked its charm: Yves (guitar), Jmi (vocals), and Jean-Mi (drums) found each other online and decided to revive BB SOUL.
Their desire is intact, their passion as strong as ever, and music naturally takes its place once again. A new team of talented musicians forms around them:

Pascal Cohemet – Keyboards

Benjamin Flandi – Tenor saxophone

Jean Ortega – Baritone saxophone

Fabrice Adam – Trumpet

Jean-Paul Tavé – Trumpet

Two backing singers, Émilie and Rozenn, also joined the adventure, bringing their energy and powerful harmonies, capable of holding the stage with as much aplomb as the singer.

🎤 The spirit of BB SOUL today

Today, BB SOUL Limited Association has 11 members:
a solid rhythm section, a well-rehearsed brass section, and an exceptional lead voice, that of Jmi, unmistakably reminiscent of a certain Otis Redding.

Their repertoire remains true to their roots:
Rhythm & Blues and Soul from the 70s, with covers of big names such as:
Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Sam & Dave, James Brown, the Blues Brothers, and many others.

On stage, their energy is infectious, their camaraderie palpable, and their enjoyment of playing together obvious. BB SOUL is above all a story of friendship, passion, and sharing, which has spanned decades without losing any of its spark.
